The biannual Sports Tour has travelled to Fiji and North America. Whether your interest lies in sailing the high seas, travelling abroad and experiencing other cultures, or showing off your sporting prowess on the world stage, our tours and trips can help students achieve their dreams. The benefits to each student who attends are many including gaining leadership skills, growing in independence, learning the value of teamwork and organisational skills.
Students in Year 10 are offered the opportunity to embark on the ship ‘South Passage’ for a five day ocean voyage from Sydney Harbour to Broughton Island (12 nautical miles off the coast of Nelson Bay) and back again. The ship is a 100ft gaff rigged schooner, which is a replica of the pilot ships that ran up and down the east coast of Australia in the 19th century.
The Annual Hills Grammar Skiing and Snowboarding Trip is open to students in Years 7 - 12. The tour departs school on Friday at lunchtime and students spend three days skiing or snowboarding at Thredbo Ski Resort before returning on Monday evening. All levels of skiers and boarders are invited to attend this trip, including students who have never skied before. All students, regardless of ability, are required to attend lessons on each of the three days of the trip. Students will be placed in classes based on ability ranging from beginner to advanced.
The Bi-annual Sports Tour will travel in April 2021 to Fiji. In the past this tour has also travelled to North America. During their stay, students will be involved in up to three games of football/netball/touch football per team vs local schools. A community service activity will also be completed during the tour. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the day to day life of the local community. Amongst other things students will assist with farming, schooling and meal preparation whilst learning about the culture, language and traditions of the country.
