The children in Room 1 are enjoying their days at ECEC. Our focus for Term 1 has been to help the children settle happily into our daily routine and for all children to feel safe, secure and supported in their environment.
This term the children have enjoyed getting to know their peers and educators through games, small groups, group times, indoor and outdoor play. We have celebrated many calendar events this term including Clean Up Australia Day, Holi Festival of Colours, Persian New Year and Harmony Week. It is so wonderful to be able to celebrate so many special events with the children and their families.
The children in Room 1 are learning to become more independent and the educators are encouraging the children to further develop their self-help skills. We are focussing on toileting, making their bed for rest time, looking after their belongings and packing their bag.
During indoor play time, the children have really enjoyed engaging in a range of creative experiences, looking at books, completing puzzles and constructing with blocks. The children love painting, drawing and creating pictures using a range of collage materials. The home corner is often a very busy area in our room as the children role play and interact with their peers. Each week the children have Drama with Miss Rosie where they act out different characters and animals and learn a new dance.
During outdoor play, the children have enjoyed exploring our three outdoor environments. The digging patch and sandpit are very popular among the children. Each week the children have PE with Miss Sarah where they focus on gross motor skills.
It has been a fantastic first term in Room 1 and we look forward to a wonderful year of playing and learning together.
