Learning at Hills Grammar

Learning at Hills Grammar is at the heart and centre of all of our efforts. Students, teachers, parents, and indeed the organization itself, constitute a learning community that continues to grow and change.

Student learning, broadly defined, is at the core of all we do at Hills Grammar. We aspire to this learning being of the highest quality and focused on achieving personal success for each of our students. Importantly, student learning is holistic and as outlined in the School’s Mission seeks to provide ‘outstanding teaching within a unique learning environment: fostering each student’s potential for greatness.

We aim to achieve this through three Core Learning Programs: Academic, Student Wellbeing and Co-curricular, which separately and together allow students to discover, nurture and achieve their goals.

·       Our Academic Programs are characterised by four key components: Guided Inquiry, Learner-Centred Teaching, Assessment for Learning and Differentiation

·       Our Student Wellbeing culture and programs are underpinned by a commitment to positive psychology

·       The Co-curricular Program has been designed to maximize opportunities for our students, enabling them to engage with their community, take risks, discover their skills, talents and passions and identify areas of lifelong interest.

The School also recognises the importance of Professional, Parent and Organizational Learning. Investment in these areas increases the capacity of staff and parents, and the School itself to work in partnership, which in turn contributes to improved learning outcomes.

Guiding all that we do is of course the School’s Ethos. A commitment to, and support of this Ethos and the programs that flow from it is an expectation of all members of the school community and our shared privilege toward ensuring that the ‘Extraordinary Education’ we seek for our children / students is achieved.
