Design and Technology Teacher | Maternity Leave| Commencing Term 1, 2026

School Psychologist | Permanent Full-Time
The Hills Grammar School invites applications from experienced and dedicated professionals for the position of School Psychologist. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to join our dynamic and student-centred team. The Psychologist is responsible for the provision of psychological services to students within the Hills Grammar School from ECEC to 12. The role of the School Psychologist is to apply their psychological and educational expertise to support students to achieve academic potential, psychological health, and social-emotional wellbeing. Psychologists work collaboratively with key stakeholders to address the barriers to learning for students to improve their educational outcomes. The Psychologist has an integral role in the provision of counselling and consultancy services within the school, as well as in the development and implementation of programmes and policies. The Principal delegates responsibility to the Psychologist for the efficient and effective management of mental health issues as they arise within the educational context.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide individual and group psychological support to students across the school ECEC –12.

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student wellbeing and learning.

Collaborate with the Head of Wellbeing, Deputy Principal and/or Principal on any matters relating to child protection or students who are at risk.

Demonstrated awareness of, and capacity to manage the legal, ethical and organisational requirements of a counselling role within an educational setting.

Contribute to professional development and staff training sessions on mental health topics.

Liaise with externals to ensure comprehensive case management and make referrals as needed.
-
Keep accurate, timely records using confidential online client management systems.
-
Adhere to professional and ethical guidelines, ensuring compliance with child protection laws and regulations.
Selection Criteria – Essential:

A degree in Psychology and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Proven experience working in a school setting or with children and adolescents.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating an ability to effectively communicate with parents, students and staff.

A strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing and a sound understanding of child protection legislation and practice.

Demonstrated professionalism and discretion in relation to confidential matters.

The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Teacher Cadetship Program | Our Priorities for 2026
During 2026, our Teacher Cadetship Focus will be on 4th Year / Final Year tertiary students in Senior School Mathematics, English, Design and Technology (Computing major), Science (Chemistry major) and Economics.
The Teacher Cadetship Program offers aspiring educators a structured and supportive pathway into the teaching profession. This developmental role is designed to build foundational teaching skills through immersive, hands-on experience within a dynamic school environment. Under the mentorship of experienced educators, the Teacher Cadet will actively contribute to the learning community while progressing toward formal teacher accreditation.
This role is ideal for individuals committed to professional growth, reflective practice, and a long-term career in education.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision and guidance of a designated Mentor Teacher, the Teacher Cadet will:
- Work with small student groups to provide tailored academic support, fostering active participation and learning growth.
- Take part in classroom activities, attend staff meetings.
- Observe diverse instructional approaches across various subjects and grade levels to build a comprehensive understanding of effective teaching methods.
- Collaborate in planning and delivering lessons, offering input and applying newly acquired teaching strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
- Help carry out both ongoing and final assessments, contributing to the tracking and analysis of student performance and development.
- Assist with administrative tasks / collating resources and record keeping as required.
Professional Development
- Engage in regular feedback sessions with the Mentor Teacher.
- Participate in school-based professional learning activities.
- Maintain a reflective journal or portfolio to document learning and growth.
