Sports at School BACKUP

Kano Football Australia’s Weekly Training is a fun skills training program dedicated to increasing the standards of non-elite football. Kano Football's aim is to assist children to develop both on and off the field with the support of their parents. The Kano program is targeted at players of all abilities. During the Football Season Kano Football Training for one session per week is covered in your Football Club registration costs, however you may also register for Kano training in Terms 1 and 4 at an additional cost.

Students from Year 3 -12 are invited to attend athletics training in preparation for the school carnival and representative carnivals that extend into Term 3. Students will be given a variety of opportunities to participate in both field and track training specific to their events.

Each year Hills Grammar hosts their Cross Country Carnival on campus amongst our beautiful bushland and across our amazing Sport Precinct. Student who perform well are then offered the opportunity to represent the school at higher level carnivals.

Each year students from Years 3-12 attend the annual Hills Grammar Swimming Carnivals. Student who perform well are then offered the opportunity to represent the school at higher level carnivals.

Equestrian has a busy calendar of events throughout the year and students have the opportunity to compete in a range of disciplines such as dressage, show jumping and gymkhanas.

Each year Hills Grammar enters teams in the All School Triathlon across cycling, running and swimming disciplines in both team and individual events.

Students are able to choose from a range of activities or students may wish to attend the Fitness Centre and be supervised through their own training plans that are specific to their sports or general wellbeing. Each session will be supervised by a qualified staff member who will either be supervising the gym sessions or taking the specific classes. Currently the HillsFit Program includes Speed, Agility & Quickness sessions, Pilates, Mixed Martial Arts, Fitness Centre Sessions and Run Club.

The Representative Dance Ensemble will meet one morning a week and will comprise of students in Years K-6. Students will participate in 3-4 competitions throughout the year as well as perform at School based assemblies and events.

Fencing lessons will be tailored towards both beginner and continuing fencers. Students are introduced to the rules, movements, and techniques of the discipline of fencing using the foil weapon. Students are also introduced to the correct fencing equipment, fencing masks, foils, jackets, under plastrons, and fencing gloves that are mandatory to be worn in any context of training or competition in the sport. Students will be invited to compete in School Fencing Competitions and be part of the School Fencing teams as they progress in ability.

Motiv8 design their sports events for all abilities and focus on the energy and effort rather than a child’s sporting ability. Children who attend Motiv8sports Clinics learn about sport, teamwork & sportsmanship in an environment fuelled by great leadership and constant motivation.

Part of our HillsFit Program, the Running Club is designed to provide training for the upcoming school Cross Country and Athletics carnivals and other events. It will also be used for those students who gain representation into the junior and senior school teams to train for the representative carnivals. Sessions will be run by experienced members of staff and will involve various training techniques for cross country running and middle distance.

Tae Kwon Do is an ancient Korean martial arts program. The students are taught skills such as discipline, teamwork, respect, confidence and self-defence.

Tennis lessons, both group and private lessons are available to all students with Max Tennis at the Hills Grammar Tennis Centre located next door to our campus.

The Hills Grammar Touch Football Academy is an 8 week program that provides students with the opportunity to pursue their interest, knowledge and skills in Touch Football. We provide students the opportunity to participate in an exciting program that focuses on fitness related aspects, theory topics and game sense. Our Coaches will develop your overall touch football game skills through individual skill development, learning the technical aspect of the game and game intensity scenarios

Students from Kindergarten to Year 12 are invited to play touch football for the Hills Grammar Touch Football Club. Teams play in the local Hills Hornets competition on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Teams will be coached by qualified staff and would require extra training either before school, during lunchtimes or before games. Details of the competition are below, all teams will have a Hills Grammar coach appointed to them and will train at school either before school or during lunchtimes. Squash develops students hand eye co-ordination, provides a healthy exercise program and improves lower and upper body strength and balance. Students have the opportunity to play against their fellow students and also enter our Saturday local competition against other local schools/clubs.

Students have the opportunity to be coached and train in our indoor Multi-Purpose Hall with our Volleyball Coach and participate in various competitions throughout the year.

This Academy will allow students from Hills Grammar and surrounding schools to receive expert tuition from leading Coaches and players who are involved at both a State and National level.

Hills Grammar is proud to provide a Co-curricular period every Thursday from 1.45pm – 2.30pm.  
It is at this time that your children can engage in their required Co-curricular activity which fulfils their minimum Co-curricular participation requirements. Beyond this, there are still Co-curricular opportunities before and after school and on weekends
