Senior Science Club
We welcome our new group of enthusiastic Science students for semester 2. Week one started with a team building activity with an engineering challenge allowing the students to get to know each other.
It is an exciting semester with a range of activities that will incorporate all areas of Science. These include hands on activities where students solve scientific problems using their critical thinking and problem solving skills allowing them to develop their scientific processes.
Looking forward to another exciting semester in Senior Science Club.
Science Week
The school theme for National Science Week in 2018 was 'Game Changers and Change Makers'.
The Science Department put together a week of activities and were happy to see so many students and teachers engaging in the activities.
With each activity there were, of course, winners:

Science Feud Trivia Showdown
Well done to everyone who participated! Remember we can all be Game Changers and Change Makers!
We had an absolute cracker of a Science trivia quiz last week with two separate events and over 60 students participating from Years 7 to 12. The competition was fierce and gloating rights were on the line. One group of Year 7s were putting the grades above them and even some of the Year 11s to shame!! But it was “The Spanish Photo Emission” who reigned triumphant with a whopping 19 points out of 40 (...hey, the questions were pretty tough!!). Congratulations to everyone involved and a big thank you to everyone who helped to put the quiz on, including the teachers team who came … equal third with 2 other teams.
Game Maker Scavenger hunt goes WILD
The culmination of Science Week saw each Connect group running around the schoolyard in pursuit of answers to puzzles at preselected and photographed locations.
First group to unfathom the unfathomable was PE5. Upon arrival at the secret final location, many groups were encouraged to locate the golden ticket!
What resulted was a chorus of song- the periodic table song - to celebrate the wonderful world of science!
Well done to all and especially congratulations to our winners!
Game Changers and Change Makers Movie
As part of Science Week, students in Years 7-10 celebrated by watching a selection of movies with a science basis. The students sat comfortably in the theatrette where they were treated to a bag of popcorn and a Game Changing movie. The Year 7s were thrown back to the 90s with ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’, Year 8 delved into the world of superheros with ‘Antman’, Year 9 explored ‘Apollo 13’ and Year 10 learned about the true story behind cell research with ‘The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks’.
