New Chair of School Council

As indicated earlier in the year, leadership of the School Council has undergone some change following the retirement of the Chair, Mr Charles Denes and a recruitment process specifically seeking to identify the next Chair of Council. This open and transparent process identified Mr Peter Crawley BA (Hons), Dip Ed, M Ed Admin, Grad Cert Th, D Univ, FACEL as the future Chair of the Council. However, it was decided that he would only take up this appointment when he had learned more about Hills Grammar and our model of governance. To this end Mr Craig Tegel has served as Interim Chair since May and we thank him for holding the fort whilst this transition to Mr Crawley occurred.

I am pleased to announce therefore, and welcome, Mr Peter Crawley as the new Chair of the Hills Grammar School, School Council and we look forward to working with him in the service of the school, drawing upon his extensive experience and leadership in independent schools.

Peter is an educator with experience in four Australian states and in the UK. His career includes being a teacher and senior leader in a number of coeducational and single-sex schools. He has been the Headmaster of three K-12 schools and was the Managing Director of a major educational consulting firm. In 2016 he was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to education. He has made a significant contribution to the thinking about how technology should be used in schools and has been a presenter at conferences in the US, Japan, NZ, UK and South Africa. He has also presented internationally on school design. Peter has assisted a number of schools with the selection process of their Principals.

We welcome Mr Crawley to the role of Chair of our School Council!
