Homestay Families Required

International students are an integral part of the Hills Grammar community. The School values its highly diverse multicultural student population which is enriched by those who come to us from all over the world.

As a condition of being granted a student visa to study in Australia all students under 18 years of age (and for Hills Grammar those international students turning 18 in their final years) are required to have adequate accommodation and welfare arrangements in place for the length of their student visa. This may include a 'homestay' arrangement approved by the School. In preparation for 2021 and a number of confirmed overseas enrolments the School is now seeking a number of new parents/carers to join our homestay community.

It is the School’s belief that an international student's experience can be enhanced by integrating themselves into the Australian culture. All international students who do not live with their family or a family relative are encouraged to live in a registered homestay with local Western families which not only assists with improving their English skills but gives them a unique opportunity to learn about Australian culture through interaction with the family.

Whilst the role includes some guardian type responsibilities, the Homestay is not the legal guardian and all students living in a homestay situation will be required to have an appointed guardian for the duration of their studies who will liaise between the School and parents on behalf of the child. International students are also well supported by their House Mentor and Head of International Students, Mrs Rebecca Sultana.

If you are interested in signing up for this process please fill out the following form or contact the Enrolments Office
hg.enrolments@hillsgrammar.nsw.edu.au for more information. Please note all residents who live at your home and are over the age of 18 will need to sign a Homestay Declaration. Evidence of a Working with Children Check number will also be required and a homestay inspection by our Enrolments Office will also be required prior to placing a student. International Students Guidelines provides further details of specific homestay requirements.
