From the Head of Senior School

This term we have been fortunate to be able to offer some normality to our students, with the majority of them back at School since Week 4 of the term. Rarely are we all thrown challenges such as that which the restrictions placed on us and even more rare is the extraordinary level of resilience and adaptability that our whole school community has displayed as we were locked down, then eased out of restrictions. We are now moving (hopefully) to more restrictions being eased as time goes by. We are hopeful that the current state of play continues with the broader community so that we, as a school are able to open up more opportunities for our students from the beginning of Term 3. I am by no means saying that we will be back to our full normal routine, but we will watch the community response closely and respond accordingly to give more extraordinary experiences for you and your children at Hills Grammar.

It has been great to walk around our School and visit the classrooms in full swing. The teachers expertly deliver the content and the students actively participate in each and every lesson. In giving Zoom interviews to prospective students to personal walk-around tours for families I make every effort to convey this scene of the enthusiasm of our teachers and students as this is such an important aspect of why we have such success in giving our young people every opportunity to learn and grow. We are definitely looking forward to being able to have small groups of people back on site next term so they can gain a personal insight into how special the environment here at Hills Grammar is for their own child.

A few reminders for Term 3:

Students are to be wearing full winter uniform for Term 3. The change rooms will be available for use next term, with some restrictions in place, and hence students will be expected to wear their school uniform rather than their sports uniform to and from school.

Day 1 of Term 3 is scheduled for Parent/Teacher/Student meetings. Further information about how this will be conducted via Microsoft Teams will be forthcoming from Mr Gates.

There have been discussions about how the school day will be structured for the remainder of the year and this will be communicated to parents and students in the coming days.

Thank you for your support for the School this term as we navigated our way back to full face-to-face lessons. I encourage everyone to take the opportunity these holidays to relax and re-charge. If you are travelling within our borders then please travel safely and I look forward to seeing you all in Term 3.
