From the Head of Junior School

What a wonderful term it has been. It's such an absolute privilege to be a part of this incredible school community. Our students are such a credit to us all – their enthusiasm, warmth, resilience, love of learning and energy are a daily inspiration. One of my favorite parts of each day is being at Gate 1 each morning and welcoming our students for the day. I must thank all families for raising such polite, confident and respectful young people, you should all be so proud, I definitely am. In the Junior School we pride ourselves on the collaborative partnership journey with families and value the connections, communication and ongoing partnerships we have. A big thank you to families and staff for putting our students first along this journey.

This term saw many exciting events including Mother's Day breakfast, music concerts, grade showcases, including the year 2 sculpture walk, the Year 6 Expo and the annual Year 5 Market Day and SEAT project.

This week we celebrated at our Citizen of the Term formal assembly. Congratulations to those students who were chosen by their class teachers to receive this very important award. I would encourage each of our recipients to reflect on the words your class teacher said about you and why you were their chosen as Citizen of the Term. There are always a substantial number of children who may be in contention, and I want you to feel proud of your achievement and reflect on why you were chosen.

Being in a co-educational, inclusive, and diverse setting is key to our school journey and our life-long journey. Making genuine connections with the staff who stretch and challenge us, as well as peers who encourage and support us, help to make us who we are and are some of the many things that our students learn and hold onto throughout their school journey and beyond. We are all Hills Originals and I encourage us all to celebrate being strong, independent, and connected to our school community.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful school holiday break, I hope you have the opportunity to rest, create memories and return refreshed and ready for Term 3. A reminder that Monday 19th July will be a pupil-free day for parent/teacher meetings. These will be held in your child’s classroom.
