From the Head of Junior School

As term 1 draws to a close it is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what is most important to us within the Hills Grammar community and for me it is our students and the genuine connections, we form with each other. Connections with students, staff, families, and the broader community is what make Hills Grammar such a special place.   It's been another busy but exciting term filled with fun, adventure, happy faces and most importantly engaged children with a love of learning and respect and care for each other and our wider school community.

We’ve definitely had a busy term including; Information Evening, Goal setting meetings, Year 6 camp, Kindy Science Day, Year 2 excursion to Elizabeth Farm, Year 1 excursion to Rouse Hill, Year 4 excursion to Cliften Gardens, Harmony Day, Crazy Sock day, Year 4 Ranger Jamie excursion, Year 5 excursion to the State Library and The Rocks, Girls Night in, school disco, lunchtime concerts to name but a few!

This week we held our Citizen of the Term assembly. This is an important event on our termly calendar and is part of how we celebrate what it means to be a Hills Grammar original and recognise students who exemplify our RISE values. Junior School Staff took this opportunity to thank all our students for their efforts throughout this term to live our RISE values of RESPECT, INTEGRITY, SERVICE and EXCELLENCE. Each classroom teacher in Junior School announced the citizen of the term for their class and explained why their chosen student had received this very special award. It was a privilege to hear why each child had been selected and how well each one of our class teachers know their students and their individual strengths.

I’d like to wish everyone a safe, happy, and well-deserved school holidays. I look forward to seeing our students return to school Wednesday 26 April for another busy and productive Term 2. Please remember my door is always open and I look forward to any opportunity to meet with families.
