University of Newcastle Careers Update
Careers Expo
As you may be aware, both the HSC and Careers Expo 2020 and the Western Sydney Careers Expo 2020 have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Disappointing though this obviously is, we have found a way to assist the thousands of students, teachers and parents who would have attended the ‘live’ events and in particular the high-quality seminar programs! In addition, we have decided to share this initiative with ALL secondary schools in New South Wales for the benefit of your HSC students.
Many of our wonderful seminar presenters, scheduled to present ‘live’ at these events later this month and in June, have generously produced videos of the seminars they would have presented to assist you and your students. Given that staff at most educational institutions are working remotely this has thrown up some challenges which they have embraced and conquered! With the disruption caused by COVID-19, you can appreciate that not all the seminars that were scheduled for the live events (see attached programs as at the cancellation date) can be digitised, but we are doing our utmost to provide as many as we can. I will be updating the website daily as videos come in from presenters. The online video seminar program will be available to you and your students until Monday 5 June 2020.
Please note that subject seminars presented by NESA will be uploaded next week.

Year 12 University Applications
Over the past couple of days, I have had a few questions relating to university applications. Below is a summary of key dates.
In April students would have received your UAC pin number via email from UAC. If you/your child did not, please contact UAC directly. The School does not receive this information.
UAC applications are open. Early bird applications close 30 September and cost $70. Applications lodged after this date have a fee of $200
School Recommendation Scheme (SRS) applications are open and need to be finalised by 30 September. For this scheme all you need to do is apply; the School does the rest.
University of New England early entry applications are open.
ANU early entry applications close on 25 May.
Macquarie University early entry opens on 1 June and closes on 31 August.
