Session Information | Mini Master Class - Stop Digital Burnout

Teachers can log this course into their NESA Accounts as Elective PD if desired.  Even though the Master class is 45 minutes, there are other resources available within the course that will enable teachers to log this course as 3 hours.

Recent research shows that 87% of people are working more than they ever did, prior to the pandemic. Educators and school leaders echo this sentiment. The digital load on educators and school leaders has grown exponentially and this is leading to many experiencing ‘digital burnout’.

Teachers and educational leaders are reporting feeling fatigued and overwhelmed as they navigate working in an increasingly digital way, whether they’re back in the classroom, working remotely, or adopting a hybrid approach.

In this mini-masterclass, Dr Kristy will unpack the neurobiology of how our brains and bodies work in a digital context and share simple ideas teachers can implement to protect their physical health, mental wellbeing and focus when they’re working online.

Dr Kristy will explore:

  • The three key reasons why teachers and school leaders are experiencing ‘digital burnout’
  • Simple, science-backed strategies to boost mental wellbeing whilst working remotely;
  • The digital habits to protect physical health whilst working online (vision, hearing & musculoskeletal health)
  • The impact of constant digital distractions on focus and wellbeing; and
  • What leading schools are doing to prevent digital burnout amongst teachers, leaders and students.
