Co-curricular: Term 2 in Review

Term 2 was challenging for the Co-curricular Program. It is a testament to your resilience and passion for Co-curricular that you have risen to the challenge and adopted new ways to pursue the activities you enjoy.

Due to the popularity of the Distance Learning Co-curricular content, it will continue to exist for your reference should you require any ideas for activities. We will continue to highlight new and exciting options for students and families each week via the Weekly Bulletin and the Co-curricular Distance Learning webpage.

Co-curricular Connect Period

From Week 1 of Term 3 we will be recommencing our Co-curricular Connect Program on Thursdays. Students will continue in their groups from Semester 1 in order to get the full experience from their activity. If your child does not have an activity from Semester 1 they can contact
hg.co-curricular@hillsgrammar.nsw.edu.au

Sport

Sport is gradually returning to normality, with our Sport Clubs returning to training and now having competition start dates. After-school activities are also returning and from next term, we should see all activities back to normal.

Our Athletics Carnival and Cross Country Carnival should be ready to roll next term – keep your eye on the Sports Bulletin for more details!

The Sports Tour to Fiji has been held back until April 2021 – more information will be sent to participants as it becomes available.

Creative, Spoken and Performing Arts

In Term 3 – Debating, Drama Ensembles, Language Classes and Film Club should all be back – keep an eye out for communication from the organising teachers to let you know!

Leadership & Service Learning

Prior to COVID-19, the Service in the Community group was just getting to know their new friends at Arcare Nursing Home Glenhaven. We hope to present the opportunity to visit them again soon. Leadership meetings have been taking place via Zoom and will hopefully recommence face-to-face meetings in Term 3.

Music

All Music activities are back and have been running whilst abiding by the Government restrictions. Hopefully, we can start to see some of their hard work next term as we once again host concerts and performances on campus.

STEM

Most of our Junior School students have missed their weekly Young Engineers lessons and we should see a return to these in Term 3. Keep an eye out for the Young Engineers crew emails with more details.

Outdoor Education

All Term 3 overnight camps have been cancelled and Term 4 camps will be reviewed in the near future. Students who miss out on their overnight camps will still get an Outdoor Education Program without the overnight component.

The Annual Ski Trip has had to be cancelled for 2020 but we are looking forward to an even bigger trip in 2021!
