We congratulate the Class of 2021 for their excellent HSC results, which included
For a small year group (66 students) to have achieved so much in their second COVID interrupted year is a testament to their efforts and resilience, the dedication of teachers, and the care and support of parents and community.
Sarah Wilson placed first in the state in Geography; this is an incredible achievement, and part of a fine Hills Grammar tradition, with previous firsts in Latin Continuers, Music Extension, English Extension 1, Mathematics Extension 1, and Information.
Hills Grammar students achieved 245 results in the Bands 5 and 6 range (80% and above), representing 63% of all HSC attempts. Further, 59% of the Class of 2021 completed at least one challenging extension course as part of their pattern of study. That is a sure sign of ambition and opportunity at Hills Grammar, and when combined with the high proportion of 80+ marks, makes a difference to ATAR for our students.
Hills Grammar is ranked 91 in the SMH Top 100 Schools – a feat achieved in 5 out of the last 6 years. The projected median ATAR of 84 – quite a separate matter -- is an even better accolade! Based on the PSAM Interim Report
Weimiao (Shysie) Wang (Dux) – HSC Top Achiever – Shysie’s passion for Japanese was rewarded when she placed 5th in the state in Japanese Extension. Shysie was also an HSC All-Rounder – a distinguished achiever in all 7 subjects attempted. Shysie completed extension courses in Mathematics (Extension 1 and 2) and Japanese (Extension 1) with her highest results in Japanese Continuers 98%, Japanese Extension 1 (49/50), Economics 95% Mathematics Extension 1 94%. Shysie achieved an ATAR of 99.55 – which places her among the top 0.8% of students in the HSC cohort of 70,000.
Sarah Wilson – HSC Top Achiever – Sarah’s dedication to Geography was rewarded in the highest possible way with her placing first in the state. That’s extraordinary! Sarah was also an HSC All-Rounder, with Band 6 results in all six courses she undertook. Sarah completed 11 units, including Japanese Extension, where she achieved 47/50.
