We congratulate the Class of 2018 for their excellent HSC results, which included 78 Band 6 results, with 29 students listed as Distinguished Achievers and the School maintaining its Top 100 ranking.
The comprehensive nature of the achievements of the Class of 2018 can be seen in the fact that Hills Grammar was above the State average in 29 HSC courses this year, with 60% of results in the Bands 5 and 6 range (80% and above). Over the last 5 years, we have seen a steady increase in students taking on extension courses, with 55% of the Class of 2018 completing at least one challenging extension course as part of their pattern of study.
HSC All Rounders and other Notable Achievements
Julia Tan (Dux) – Distinguished achiever (above 90%) in all 8 subjects attempted. Julia completed 14 units, far in excess of minimal requirements. She completed extension courses in English, Mathematics (Extension 2) and Latin and earnt 99% in Mathematics Extension 1, 96% in Latin Continuers and 48/50 in Latin Extension. Julia achieved an ATAR of 99.75 and has received two scholarship offers from Sydney University: the 2019 Sydney Scholars Award and Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies Leadership Scholarship.
Selina Ta – Distinguished achiever (above 90%) in 6 HSC courses. Selina completed 12 units, including Mathematics and Latin Extension courses and earning 96% in Latin Continuers and 48/50 in Latin Extension. She achieved an ATAR of 99.
Chelsea McVay – Distinguished achiever (above 90%) in 6 HSC courses. Chelsea completed 13 units, including extension courses in English (Extension 2) and French (97%). Chelsea achieved an ATAR of 98.1 and was the recipient of the 2018 Macquarie University Global Leadership Program.
Charlotte Chan – Charlotte's music performances were shortlisted for Music Encore. She also completed 13 units of study, including extension courses in Mathematics (Extension 2) and Music. She was a distinguished achiever in 4 courses earning 97% in Extension 1 Mathematics; 96% Music 2 and 49/50 in Music Extension. Charlotte achieved an ATAR of 98.7
Talja Coleman – Talja achieved an ATAR of 92.75 and was the recipient of the 2018 Macquarie University Global Leadership Program.
