Outside of medicine, Usman is an avid creative writer, harbouring aspirations of publishing another book while nurturing a fulfilling life with his wife in the Hills, a place very special to him. His journey is not just about professional achievements but also about embodying humility, mentorship, and true passion.

When Usman was asked what advice, he could give our Hills Originals it was clear mentors were a pivotal role in shaping one’s journey towards excellence.

“I think finding a mentor who backs you and guides you to be the best version of yourself is critically important. I have been blessed with fantastic mentors at Hills Grammar in the form of my teachers as well as mentors in my later career who have been instrumental in getting me where I am today. My parents have also been great mentors in building my moral character. It is critical to seek out people who are positive influences and to have the humility to accept their guidance, they will let you reach the heights you are capable of. Furthermore, I think it is paramount to career success that someone pursues their true passion, don't just do what you feel you may be good at or what others tell you might be suitable for you, pick the path that you feel you will be most invested in and then have the resolve to commit to being as good as you can at it. You can live doing things in half measures but giving it your all is the best way to feel alive!”
