Future Now Taskforce

Welcome to the Future Now Taskforce site

“Our world is at a turning point. We already know that knowledge and learning are the basis for renewal and transformation. But global disparities – and a pressing need to reimagine why, how, what, where, and when we learn – mean that education is not yet fulfilling its promise to help us shape peaceful, just, and sustainable futures” (UNESCO, 2021).

According to UNESCO 2024 Our world is at a unique juncture in history, characterised by increasingly uncertain and complex trajectories shifting at an unprecedented speed. These sociological, ecological and technological trends are changing education systems, which need to adapt.” Schools need to investigate how we can ensure that our students are future fit – resilient, agentic, courageous and flexible. At Hills, we will be working together in our Future Now taskforce to imagine, dream and plan for how as a school we can enable this to happen.

“Education is not only about the transfer of knowledge and skills; it is profoundly about values, ethics, and the development of agency in young people. Teachers don’t just teach math or literature, they impart fairness, encourage inclusion, model kindness, and cultivate students’ sense of responsibility” (Pinar, 2025).
