Wellbeing
Nurturing Character
Student Wellbeing is embedded into our daily experiences to enable all children and young people to feel a strong sense of support and belonging.
When young people have a strong sense of wellbeing, they feel connected and are more likely to develop safe and trusting relationships. This in turn allows them to achieve better physical, emotional, social and educational outcomes.
A strong sense of belonging
We pride ourselves on the outstanding relationships that our staff build with students. We are committed to knowing and valuing each student as a unique individual and helping them to achieve more than they ever thought possible in every aspect of school life.
As well as supporting students through any specific challenges they encounter during their individual journey, Pre-K to Year 12, we take a proactive approach to wellbeing and helping our students to thrive.
The Student Wellbeing Program
Our wellbeing curriculum is carefully designed to engage students in learning about maintaining their own personal wellbeing. It focuses on a range of core areas and topics, and is structured to address issues at a developmentally appropriate point that is most relevant to students of different ages.
Each year, our wellbeing curriculum is tailored to the specific skills, interests, and developmental needs of our students, adapting to the unique requirements of each cohort.
At its core, the curriculum is grounded in principles from positive psychology and the CASEL social and emotional learning framework which gives us a foundation to explicitly teach students ways to live a healthy, fulfilling, and productive life.
We work closely with parents in genuine partnership and encourage them to raise concerns with us as soon as possible so that together we can plan and manage a way forward. Where necessary, our school counselling and psychology team work closely with teachers, students, and parents as well as with external mental health professionals.
