Join Hills Grammar

Hills Grammar is a truly independent, intentionally co-educational, proudly diverse, and inclusive school providing an education for children from Pre-K to Year 12.

We appreciate that every child and young person is different. Our aim is to identify, nurture and expand on each person’s passions, skills and capacity in order for them to graduate into the world as confident, and accomplished.

Hills Grammar has a non-selective (no entrance tests) admission policy where each application is considered on its merits. Priority is given to siblings of children already enrolled and to the children of former students. Our main entry points are ECEC, Kindergarten and Year 7.

Our approach to enrolments

Our year groups are intentionally small, to ensure that each child is known for their unique abilities. Junior School (Kindergarten to Year 6) is 80 per grade and Senior School (Year 7 to Year 12) is 120 per grade.

As a co-educational school, we provide equal places in each year group for boys and girls. Our enrolments procedures and processes ensure we maintain this balance.

All applicants are expected to demonstrate a willingness and ability to support the School’s mission and values, to apply themselves to academic study, and participate fully in school life. The School’s educational program aims to prepare students for opportunities of life-long learning, including (though not limited to) further education at university and other tertiary institutions.

We believe that the safe and supportive environment of Hills Grammar has a lot to offer students. Through a combination of our challenging academic program and diverse co-curricular opportunities, students embark on a learning journey that will prepare them well for whatever future they may choose.

How to enrol –
K to 12 and ECEC

Hills Grammar has a:

  • non-selective admission policy where each application is considered on its merits.
  • comprehensive intake and is open to all students regardless of cultural, socio-economic or religious background.
  • priority given to siblings of children already enrolled and to the children of alumnae.
  • practice of providing an equal number of places for boys and girls to ensure gender balance.
  • enrolment procedure and practice that complies with the various state and federal anti-discrimination laws.

We have significant interest and waitlists for our key intake years of Early Childhood, Kindergarten and Year 7.

Enrolling is generally a four-step process.

Application

Applications for enrolment can be made by completing the Enrolment Application Form.

Prior to submitting an application, families are advised to familiarise themselves with the School’s current Fee Schedule and our Tuition Collection Policy. Tuition fees are reviewed annually.

International Students, including Overseas Students studying on a 500 Student Visa, should refer to the International Applications section prior to completing an application form.

An Application Fee of $275 is payable when submitting the online application. An Application Fee of $220 is payable for each subsequent child. Hills Grammar Alumni are not required to pay an application fee.

Entry-year groups of Kindergarten and Year 7 have significant interest. Families are advised to ensure their child is on the waitlist – ie submitted an application and paid the application fee – for these year groups as early as possible.

Once a completed Application Form and the Application Fee have been received by the Enrolments Office, families are placed on the formal Waitlist for the particular year group and starting year.

PLEASE NOTE Entry-year groups of Kindergarten and Year 7 have significant interest. To avoid disappointment, families are advised to ensure their child is on the waitlist for these year groups early – in particular we recommend Year 7 applications are received at least 3 years prior to desired commencement.

Two years prior to entry, we begin the first round of preadmission steps. Working through the waitlist, prospective students and their parents will be required to complete a Student Information Form and provide supporting documentation – including birth certificate, references, school reports and NAPLAN results (if applicable), results of public tests, immunisation papers, as well as information relating to any special needs of the applicant.

Once the documentation is submitted students and their parents will be invited to attend an interview. These interviews are conducted by the relevant Head of School. At this interview, we get to know the students and their families and discuss the School’s expectations of parents and students.

Elective choices for older students will be discussed and clarified prior to confirmation of enrolment.

Following the interview, an Offer of Enrolment may be made.

A signed acceptance of this Offer of Enrolment is required, accompanied by a payment of the non-refundable $2,500 Enrolment Fee. This fee secures your place within that year group. The time frame for acceptance of an offer varies based on the timing of your commencement and will be outlined in your Letter of Offer.

The Offer of Enrolment is subject to the Terms and Conditions of Enrolment. All enrolments are conditional upon the School being satisfied in its discretion that the Student’s needs can be met by the School.

The School may cancel the enrolment if it determines prior to the start of the enrolment that the student’s needs cannot be met.
