We are excited to share that Delta Goodrem (Class of 2002) represented Australia at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest!
The Eurovision Song Contest, in its 70th year, started early Wednesday morning for the first round of semi-finals, with the second round taking place on Friday morning, with Delta taking the stage. Delta wowed the audience in a custom-made Australian design, VELANI by Nicky and delivered a show stopping performance of her latest song, Eclipse. Despite the high calibre of contestants, her performance secured her position in the Grand Final.
This contest is among many recognitions of Delta’s work in the Arts sector. In 2017, Hills Grammar honoured the singer, songwriter, actor and TV personality with our Hills Original Alumni Award.
Delta has achieved world acclaim and made recording history in Australia; her first album ‘Innocent Eyes’ was one of the highest-selling debut albums in Australian history. It spent a record-breaking 29 weeks at #1 in Australia, and topped the Australian Albums Charts and reached 15x platinum in sales.
Across her career, Delta has sold nine million albums worldwide, including 5 number 1 albums and 9 number 1 singles, on the Australian charts from a debut album and was awarded the ARIA Albums Artist of the Decade in 2010.
Since then, Delta has continued to shoot for the stars with this latest achievement just the beginning for her in 2026.
Before the announcement of Eurovision, held in Austria for the third time, Delta announced the release of her latest album, ‘Pure’. Available in November, songs like ‘Eclipse’ are already set to hit the top.
Delta’s successes are proof that a young girl from Hills Grammar was always destined for big things; however, she has always acknowledged her fondness for her time at Hills Grammar.
During her 2018 Hills Grammar Original Award acceptance speech, Delta was very humbled by the award and addressed the 2000 strong audience with much joy and emotion, “I’m a very proud Hills Grammar girl. When I think of my time at Hills Grammar, I loved school so much. I loved the mix, surrounded by nature, being inspired in the arts and loving sport. I made wonderful friends who continue to be my very best friends today.” Delta continued to encourage the students to be kind to one another and support each other to find their passion. “I was given the space to find that light in me – to develop my passion while still being a part of the Hills community.”
From a young Hills Grammarian to the world stage, Delta was destined for success. In 1993, her contributions during a Junior School soiree saw a breathtaking performance of Olivia Newton-John’s ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’. Remarkably, 25 years later, these dreams came full circle as she took on the role of her beloved mentor and friend, Olivia Newton-John, in the inspirational biopic ‘Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted To You.’
This performance, shown below, was captured by our then Year 6 students.
