Sport

Participating in School sport helps students to develop a sense of community and belonging.

All students at Hills Grammar are encouraged to take part in our school based sporting programs regardless of ability. Our sporting program teaches students important life lessons like teamwork, perseverance, and discipline and is a great way for students to improve their mental health and fitness. Students are able to represent the school through Inter School competitions or optionally, through club sports on the weekend in the local competitions.

School Sports Carnivals

The School Sports Carnivals allow students from Kindergarten to Year 12 to participate in both competitive and non-competitive activities.

As part of the School House system, Houses compete for the House Shield in swimming, cross country, athletics, Spirit day and other events during the year culminating in an overall Champion House awarded at the School’s Annual Presentation of Awards.

Swimming Carnival | Each year we host a Junior (Years 3 – 6) and a Senior (Years 7 – 12)  swimming carnival held at an external Aquatic Centre. Students are given the opportunity to participate in traditional swimming events and novelty events giving all students an opportunity to participate on the day. Results are recorded to determine our Representative Swimming team.

Athletics Carnival | Each year we host a Junior (Years 3 – 6) and a Senior (Years 7 – 12) Athletics Carnival at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre where students participate in track and field events, with results determining our Representative Athletics team.

Cross Country | Each year we host the Cross Country Carnival commencing at our Sports Precinct and travelling through our beautiful bushland campus. The length of the course varies depending on age groups. Younger students run a lap of the School Oval, whilst Senior Students travel all over campus on footpaths, bush tracks and up our famous ‘heartbreak hill’. The results are recorded to determine our Representative Cross Country team.
