Kirsten Linklater

1992

Graduating from Hills Grammar in 1992, Kirsten began her journey in healthcare by earning a Bachelor of Nursing from UTS in 1995. Starting as a Registered Nurse with Corrections Health, she worked at Parramatta and Long Bay jail before answering a new calling—joining NSW Ambulance as a Trainee Paramedic in 1996.

From serving as a paramedic on the dynamic and demanding streets of Sydney to advancing into the role of Station Manager, she has exemplified leadership at every step. Along the way, she pursued further education, earning a Bachelor of Paramedical Science in 2002, a Master of Public Administration in 2013, and a Certificate in Governance and Risk Management in 2020, reflecting a deep commitment to emergency services .

Throughout her career she has led several pivotal state-wide initiatives, including the implementation of electronic rostering systems, critical planning for the APEC Summit in 2007, and, most notably, the COVID-19 Staff Safety and Protection Program in 2020—projects that have profoundly impacted both her colleagues and the wider community.

In 2022, she was awarded the Ambulance Service Medal in the Australia Day Honours, recognizing her exceptional contribution to emergency services and healthcare. Today, she serves as the Associate Director of Rostering and Payroll for NSW Ambulance, leading a team of 70 professionals while maintaining her registration as a paramedic—testament to her enduring connection to the frontline.

Amid these incredible achievements, she treasures her role as a parent to four amazing children: Lauren (17), Luke (15), Cameron (11), and Phillipa (9), who bring balance and joy to her life.
