Maintenance/Facilities

Are you enthusiastic about maintaining a clean and beautiful environment? Hills Grammar School is looking for a dedicated individual to join our Maintenance/Facilities team. This ensures the upkeep of our school’s buildings, grounds, and sporting fields.

Key requirements include a strong understanding of safe work practices, the ability to problem-solve and work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.

The role reports directly to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager

Main Duties 

• Carry out general building and property maintenance tasks including minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine facilities upkeep.
• Assist with furniture movement, event setup/pack‑down, and logistical support for school activities
• Ensure tools, machinery, and equipment are stored and maintained safely and are in good working order.
• Accessing roofs when necessary, adhering to Safe Work Procedures.
• Assisting with manual tasks, including lifting and setting up for school events, in compliance with WH&S guidelines.
• Collecting supplies from authorised suppliers.
• Contributing to the School Maintenance Plan and Essential Annual Safety Measures.
• Assist with opening, locking, and alarming of campus facilities when required.
• Work collaboratively within the Maintenance/Facilities team and independently when required.

Criteria

• Experience in a school environment is preferred but not essential.
• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Horticulture, Property Maintenance, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience in grounds maintenance and general building maintenance.
• Ability to operate grounds machinery and maintenance tools safely.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
• Sound written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid Australian Driver’s Licence.
