Scholarships covering full or part-time tuition may be awarded to students entering Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11. Students wishing to enter The Hills Grammar School as well as existing students of the School are eligible to apply. The categories for Scholarships are Academic, Music and All-Rounder. Applicants in each category are required to sit for the ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research) Cooperative Scholarship Test as well as meet specific criteria listed below. Applicants should register their intention to sit the examination by phoning the Enrolments Secretary on 9654 5248. You can register online for the ACER Scholarship Examination by clicking here.
From time to time, Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in The Hills Grammar Junior School, who demonstrate outstanding endeavour and achievement. These may be in any of the three categories, Academic, Music or All-Rounder.
The awarding of all Scholarships is at the discretion of the Principal. Scholars are expected to work hard at their studies as well as be involved in the wider life of the School. Scholarships are tenable from the time of awarding until the end of Year 12. All scholarships are subject to an annual review. Part scholarships may be increased on the basis of sustained, outstanding achievement by the student.
Further information may be obtained by phoning the Enrolments Secretary on 9654 5248.
Academic Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of the results of the ACER Cooperative Scholarship Test, which is held at the School in early May. Evidence of high academic achievement from other sources such as School Reports, Certificates awarded in State and National Competitions or up-to-date documents from outside agencies will also be considered, particularly for students entering the School prior to sitting the Scholarship Examination.
Academic Scholars are seen within the School as role models in terms of their intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic. All students, including Academic Scholars, are expected to be actively engaged in the extensive co-curricular program.
Music Scholarships at The Hills Grammar School are offered at 50% or 100% remission of School fees for students entering the School or varying levels up to 50% of School fees for current students.
The number of scholarships available in any given year is determined by the Principal of the School in consultation with the Music Department. Scholarships generally cover School fees only and do not include fees associated with private music tuition.
Selection Criteria:
Details of the audition and interview process are available on request from the Enrolments Office.
Scholarships for All-Round Achievement, providing full or part remission of tuition fees, may be awarded to students entering the School in Year 7, and to students entering Year 10, who have attended The Hills Grammar School in Years 7 to 9. In assessing each application, weight is given to the range of the applicant’s achievements, with particular reference to:
