History of the School
The Hills Grammar School was conceived in the early eighties as a co-educational and non-denominational Kindergarten to Year 12 School with a major emphasis in the development of excellence in scholarship, citizenship and personal development.
It would have no religious affiliation and its ethos was underpinned by a strong commitment to humanitarian values based on personal integrity and social responsibility. The founder, Mr Ross Booth, worked tirelessly to enlist support for the establishment of the School and in 1982 the Founding Council was formed.
The current site at Kenthurst was found and a number of prospective parents stood guarantor for the bank loan which purchased the initial plot of land and allowed construction of the first building.
In 1983, with 163 Foundation students enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 9 and with 14 academic staff, the School opened its doors.
